Suicide Prevention Help - Comments
When griping grief the heart doth wound, and doleful dumps the
mind opresses, then music, with her silver sound, with speedy help doth lend
William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616)
The following is a small sample of letters I have recently received from visitors to Suicide Prevention Help:
I liked your site. Very useful resource. THE BEST.
Thank you for your response it is very nice and helpful to me to know that someone cares.
I read your letter and it did help me tonight although I know that tomorrow and the next day will still be painful with brief moments that I can feel normal, happy like my old self.
I read your mail with tears. At least there is someone like you who cares. I managed to talk to one local young Samaritan in Bangkok Thailand yesterday afternoon.
With all the joy of my heart i say thank you and God bless you. You are not a common person. You have the gift to bring hope to people who do not have it.
Your site is great.
I'm from Argentina, and i read your friendship letter, i haven't had recurring suicidal thoughts, but i have had them, and seeing your willingness to help gave me real strength.
I have completely viewed and analysed your site and have found that your site is excellent.
I just wrote you so I could get these feeling out of my head and share them with someone who understands. Thanks for listening,
Hi thanks for the reply. I do have a therapist, he's great. sometimes just knowing you are not the only person feeling this way helps, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for taking the time to read my email and for your helpful suggestions, I will give it a try soon. Actually I am feeling much better at the moment.
I came across your friendship letter today. What a godsend that was.
Thank you for your kind words and concern Kenneth -they have really uplifted my day! May God Bless you for your genuine concern for others.

I think the letter is a bit long, but I am glad you put it out...Thank you Kenneth
Please keep up the good work. It gives the rest of us hope.
I just wanted to say that your prayers seemed to have been answered. My friend is recovering. She hasn't cut herself in a very long time, she is getting along better with the people in the hospital and she has found new courage to continue since.
Very thoughtful and powerful information in your letter. I found it searching for help for my 29 yr old daughter who has isolated herself from family, friends, and contact to all.
Thanks for taking the time to put your feelings online, for everyone to read. You are very brave and I am thankful for your web site and happy that I could write to you and "spill my guts."
Your letter made me cry. I don't know whether that's a good or bad thing yet but, I suppose it's some comfort knowing that you've recovered.
Thanks so much for taking the time to care and help.
I just read your letter and it was very different (in a good way) from the other things I have been reading. There are some things that make sense to me.
I know this must sound corny and like that. But you did save my life. Honestly. I was dying inside…So, one day I just looked for a last option…I googled “I want to commit suicide and need to talk” your website was the first one to pop up. I read the whole thing through carefully(my overdose of aspirin lying right next to me) and started crying…everything you said…everything was exactly how I felt. It was crazy. I felt that I didn’t belong, and that no one loved me…I had been cutting and woke up. I just said to myself “YOU IGNORANT CHILD EVERYONE LOVES YOU PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO HELP YOU WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!” I finally realized that when I saw your website…I’m not sure you know it but you are a hero…and I will never forget the feeling I got when I finished reading your story online. Thank you…
This is this work of an Angel. God Bless you. I have felt like Suicide many times. I have no friends or family that would begin to understand this pain, very much pain.
I've got to say, a lot of the sites out there can actually be more scary than helpful. I found a lot of sites that just told me that if I killed myself, I'd go to hell. I was really really scared when I saw those, and I was starting to feel actually a lot worse. Things were starting to seem a lot more hopeless, actually. I mean, all this pain here, only to lead to forever pain there? Then I came across your site. What a huge difference a Friendship Letter makes. Please keep helping people, it's a scary place to be and one thing no one in this place needs is to be scared even more. Your website is about hope, rather than fear, and that's nothing but good. Thank you so much.
I just read your letter. I don't know if it will help me feel better in the long run, but it made me feel good to know someone cares.
I just visited your website, and I want to tell you that what you wrote was really beautiful. Depression is a very painful illness, and what you have to say about it is very true. I was really touched by your compassion and kindness. Thank you for caring about people so much.
Your account describes "exactly" what it was like for me. The thoughts kept welling up and stewing the more I thought about them until that was all there was; I was drowning in my own mind...This disease is relentless.
Thank you so much for writing your story. It helped me to learn about what I could do when I'm feeling depressed and suicidal.
I'm glad that you have put this on here (the Web) so if people are having problems they can read it and realize that it would ruin their lives.
Your story is very encouraging.
I wanted to thank you for what you have written, because it has helped me. I turned on the computer looking for something, anything that I could identify with. The first thing I found was your letter, and it was exactly what I needed to read.
You so beautifully put into words what so many are tormented by day in and day out. It was a joy to read your successes and I'm sure this letter has and will continue to help so many people feel as we have.
Thank You, LS
I've bookmarked it. I hope I can return so it soon. I can relate to all that was said. Thanks, P.
Your site is helpful in that it is personal and not so overrun with clinical terms. I Just wanted you to know that the site is useful. Thanks. Keep up the good work.
I have been to many psychiatrists in my life, read many self-help books and I have so say that your letter has really been a help. Thank you for taking the time to talk to people about your experiences. I will keep reading your letter.
I've read you letter in the www yesterday and was quite impressed by it. I know your thoughts, 'cause I've been thinking them for a long time too.
I am genuinely moved by your kind, helpful and deeply compassionate words to those who are feeling suicidal...I bless you for taking the time and trust that you have indeed touched someone.
I've just read through most of your website, very insightful. Your site has given me food for thought.
My friend was toying with the idea of suicide. I looked up your website Kenneth, You expressed yourself better to her that I ever could. You may have prevented someone from ever thinking about it again. A lifesaver. My hats off to you. Thank you.
Take care, Dan T.
I found your website this morning while in suicidal panic...I am going to print your letter and use it to help me get through to my next session...Thanks so much for your thoughtful and sensitive website.
Thank you...enough said.
Just reading you letter has helped me a lot thanks.
Your letter was genuine and I'm glad you found hope. Suggestions were logical and I'll try for a while to maybe clean things around here.
Thanks so much for caring enough to take the time to write your letter about your experiences with suicide. It was helpful to read and "know: that you understand and I am not alone in my battles. Many times all it takes is just the right word or touch to fight past the negative obstacles that cloud one's thinking. Your page is that right word. Thank you.
I would like to let you know that your letter of encouragement touched me deeply.
Thanks for your site. I can understand now how so much of it is a thought process.
Just visited your web page. I'm also a suicide survivor and it's eerie how similar some of my experiences are to what you've written about.
Hi Kenneth It was good to read your letter. It gave me a ray of hope that maybe somewhere down the line I will feel better.
I needed to hear the words you were saying in your letter. Thanks for being open and honest.
Thank you for sharing your very special and heroic story. I am a emergency doctor and see many young men and women with the very same thoughts. Thank God we can give many a second chance at life.
Wes Young M.D.
Thank you so much for your help!!
I just wanted to commend you for the wonderful job you have done with your suicide prevention page... Keep up the good work Kenneth.
