Photo of Kenneth Hemmerick

Kenneth Hemmerick is an interdisciplinary fine artist who hails from Montreal, Canada.

He posted The Friendship Letter on the Web, in 1998, because he was shocked to find sites that actually encouraged people to kill themselves.

He has answered thousands of letters from people who have visited his site, offering a few kind words and positive suicide prevention resources available online and offline.

Download and read an article that was published in the Montreal Gazette about Kenneth's experience with suicide and suicide prevention.

In July, 2006, he began creating a global web directory of suicide prevention resources. Feel free to suggest sites for inclusion in the directory.
